The Jeep Wrangler is built for more than just the daily errand or commute ― it’s nice to be reminded every time you slide behind the wheel that you have the option to enjoy more. Innovative engine technologies also help you optimize fuel efficiency.
Offering excellent fuel economy, this turbocharged 2.0L engine is mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission and utilizes a mild, 48-volt hybrid technology ― rather than a traditional alternator ― to optimize fuel economy and towing capacity. Responsive and fun to drive, it produces a respectable 270 horsepower and 295 lb.-ft. of torque and gets 21 MPG in the city and 22 MPG on the highway.
Offering the highest torque rating of any Jeep Wrangler engine, the 3.0L turbocharged V6 EcoDiesel engine is an off-roader’s ideal companion, producing 260 horsepower and an impressive 442 pound-feet of torque to help you tow more or get over those rocks or hills you need to conquer when you’re on the trails. The enhanced fuel economy, rated at 22 city and 29 highway MPG, can save you trips to the pump, too. This EcoDiesel engine is mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission.
If you’re planning on crawling rocks and tackling more challenging terrain than just your city streets or state highways, this V6 comes with all the performance capabilities of the standard Wrangler V6. Then it adds a 48-volt mild hybrid eTorque system to amp up your ability to take on more vertical trail experiences. It puts out 285 horsepower and 260 lb.-ft. of torque and delivers fuel economy rated at 19 city and 22 highway MPG.
Standard on all Wrangler trims and featuring automatic start/stop technology for better city driving fuel efficiency, the 3.6L V6 is the only engine paired with a six-speed manual transmission. If you’re a Wrangler purist, this powertrain is probably what you’re looking for. You can also choose an eight-speed automatic transmission. This V6 exerts 285 horsepower and 260 lb.-ft. of torque and is rated for 17 MPG in the city and 25 MPG on the highway.
